Getting started

Can you diagnose every leak from photos?

No. Photos help us understand your enquiry, but Shower Masters determines whether inspection or testing is needed. We explain the likely cause, any uncertainty and the recommended next step before agreeing the repair scope.

What is The Shower Masters Method?

Diagnose → Repair → Dry → Restore → Protect. We identify the likely cause, recommend suitable repairs and manage moisture, restoration and surface protection where needed. The assessment determines which stages apply to your shower.

Where does Shower Masters work?

Shower Masters services the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Tweed Heads and nearby areas. Send your suburb to confirm current availability.

What happens if moisture has spread beyond the shower?

Tell us what you can see, including any damage outside the shower. Where moisture has moved into surrounding materials, Shower Masters assesses the moisture condition, plans drying and manages restoration of the affected areas: detect, dry, remediate, restore.

Will I need to renovate the whole shower?

Not necessarily. Some faults suit targeted repair; others involve movement, damaged substrates or concealed waterproofing and need broader work. Repair first. Renovation only when it’s needed — the assessment determines which applies to your shower.

Do you work with property managers?

Shower Masters can review enquiries from homeowners, landlords and property managers. Include property and access details with the enquiry.

Shower leak diagnosis

Can photographs replace a site inspection?

Photos help the initial review, but concealed or unclear faults may require inspection, testing or further investigation. We explain these requirements before recommending work.

Does every shower need every stage in the Method?

No. The assessment determines which repairs, drying, restoration and protection steps are appropriate.

Building restoration

Can you paint over the damage straight away?

The moisture source and drying conditions need to be addressed before final finishes are reinstated. The assessment establishes the sequence.

Waterproofing

Is resealing the same as waterproofing?

No. Resealing renews accessible joints. Work to a concealed waterproofing system can require opening up and reinstating the surrounding area.

Master Seal

Will protection fix a leaking shower?

No. The cause of a leak must be assessed and repaired. Surface protection is considered only when the underlying condition is suitable.

Does a protective treatment mean no more cleaning?

No. Routine cleaning and the recommended care instructions still apply. Suitability and expected performance are discussed before treatment.

Tile protection

Will protection fix a leaking shower?

No. The cause of a leak must be assessed and repaired. Surface protection is considered only when the underlying condition is suitable.

Glass protection

Shower leak repairs

Why is my shower leaking?

Possible causes include deteriorated grout or sealant, screen leakage, plumbing faults, movement, drainage issues or a concealed waterproofing problem. An assessment is needed to distinguish between them.

Can a leaking shower be repaired without removing tiles?

Sometimes. A targeted repair may suit accessible surface-joint failures, but it cannot correct every concealed or structural problem. The likely water pathway needs to be assessed first.

How do you find the source of a shower leak?

The process starts with the leak pattern, visible joints, screen, drainage area and surrounding surfaces. Photos support initial triage; an on-site assessment may still be needed.

Does a leaking shower always need a renovation?

No. Some faults suit targeted repair; others involve movement, damaged substrates or concealed waterproofing and need broader work.

How much does shower leak repair cost?

Cost depends on the cause, access and agreed scope. Visually similar leaks can require different work, so a price is provided only after the job has been assessed.

Can I send photos before booking?

Yes. Include the full shower, close views of the issue, the screen and affected surfaces outside the shower. Photos help with triage but may not replace an on-site assessment.

Shower sealing & resealing

Can failed grout cause a shower leak?

Deteriorated or missing grout may contribute to moisture entry, but junctions, sealant, screen details, plumbing and concealed systems should also be considered.

Can failed silicone cause a shower leak?

Split, separated or missing flexible sealant can allow water through accessible junctions. Whether replacement is enough depends on the wider shower condition.

How long does shower resealing last?

Service life varies with movement, preparation, use, cleaning and the condition beneath the repair. A reliable duration cannot be stated until the scope and site conditions are known.

How often should a shower be resealed?

There is no universal schedule. Inspect joints for separation, cracking, gaps or persistent deterioration and arrange an assessment when those signs appear.

Grout renewal

Can damaged grout be replaced?

Compromised grout can often be removed and renewed where the joints and underlying surfaces are suitable. Repeated cracking may indicate movement that grout replacement alone will not solve.

What is epoxy grout?

Epoxy grout is a resin-based grout system with different handling and performance characteristics from cement-based grout. Suitability depends on the shower and intended repair scope.

Why is epoxy grout used on shower floors?

It may be considered for its water and stain resistance in suitable installations. Preparation and the underlying condition still matter, so it is not an automatic fix for every floor.

Silicone replacement

What areas of a shower need silicone?

Flexible sealant is commonly used at changes of plane and selected junctions, such as wall-to-floor corners and around screens or fittings. The exact joints depend on construction.

Can silicone be applied over existing silicone?

A sound result generally depends on removing failed material and preparing the joint. Applying new sealant over deteriorated silicone can hide rather than correct the problem.

Shower screen repairs & installation

Can every shower screen be repaired?

It depends on the screen, damage and availability of compatible parts. Photos of the full screen, hinges, handles, seals and fault help with initial review.

Mould remediation

Can mould behind a shower be remediated?

Concealed mould needs the moisture source and affected material identified. Surface treatment is not a substitute for opening up and remediating concealed damage when broader work is required.

Will surface treatment stop mould returning?

Not by itself if moisture remains active. Long-term control depends on addressing the contributing moisture conditions and improving drying or ventilation where relevant.

Balcony resealing

Can every balcony leak be fixed by resealing?

No. Drainage, movement or concealed waterproofing failure may require broader work. Surface resealing is recommended only where it suits the assessed cause.

What does a balcony assessment involve?

The moisture pattern, joints and thresholds, drainage and falls, and whether the signs point to an accessible joint or a concealed waterproofing failure. Photos help with triage; an on-site assessment may still be needed.

How long does balcony resealing take?

Timing depends on weather, drying conditions, access and repair suitability, and is confirmed with the agreed scope.

Will you tell us if resealing won't fix it?

Yes. Where drainage, falls, movement or concealed waterproofing failure is indicated, targeted resealing is not recommended and the appropriate pathway is explained instead.

Moisture remediation & building restoration

How do you determine whether moisture is trapped behind a wall?

Visible patterns and the history guide the assessment. Moisture readings or further investigation may be recommended where surface evidence is insufficient; the limits of non-invasive assessment are explained.

Why manage moisture before restoring a finish?

New finishes can fail while moisture is still active. The source and drying condition should be understood before cosmetic restoration proceeds.

What does moisture remediation involve?

It follows a set sequence: detect the moisture pattern, dry with air movement and dehumidification, remediate mould or remove damaged substrate where required, then restore building surfaces.
